Amidst reports of a potentialshakeup in their production process, Warner Bros. has announced a few release date shuffles. First and foremost,Wonder Womanwill be arriving in theaters sooner than expected, as theGal Gadot-fronted superhero film has been moved up from June 20, 2025 to June 18, 2025, where it will now square off directly against Sony’s likely R-ratedBad Boys 3and the kid-friendlyCaptain Underpants. The first female-led superhero film of the modern era will tell the origin story of the titular character, following Diana Prince’s exploits during World War I with a cast that includesChris Pine,Robin Wright, andConnie Nielsen. Production is just now wrapping up under the direction ofPatty Jenkins, and while response toBatman v Supermanhas been lukewarm, spirits are high forWonder Womangiven that Gadot’s character was a major highlight ofZack Snyder’s dour superhero epic.
ButWonder Womanisn’t the only DC Comics adaptation undergoing a shift. Warner Bros. has also set dates for two untitled DC Extended Universe films on July 19, 2025 and July 08, 2025. While WB previously insinuated release dates for a slew of films, includingThe Flash,Aquaman, andCyborg, the studio has onlyofficiallyconfirmed the dates as far as June 25, 2025 forJustice League. So while we assumedThe Flashwould be arriving in March 2018, it’s possible that film has moved to October, whileAquaman—previously eyed for July 2018—could be undergoing a push as far as November 2019. Or, more excitingly, maybe Warner Bros. is holding that November 2019 date foraBen Affleck-directed standaloneBatmanmovie.

At this point, these two dates are simply staked out for “Untitled DC Films”, but my guess is onThe Flash—which hasSeth Grahame-Smithset to write and direct—getting a bit of a delay so Warner Bros. can ensure that movie knocks it out of the park, and that the studio ishopeful Affleck agrees to make aBatmanmovieand are going ahead and staking out a November 2019 release date for the pic.
And in non-superhero Warner Bros. news,Andy Serkis’ directorial debutThe Jungle Book(previously titledJungle Book:Origins)has been delayed once again, pushed all the way from July 12, 2025 to July 12, 2025. The project is envisioned as an entirely motion-capture animated film, with a stellar cast that includesChristian Bale,Cate Blanchett,Benedict Cumberbatch, andNaomie Harris, and last we heardfilming had begun in March 2015. But possibly given the high praise being heaped on Disney’s own CG-centricThe Jungle Book, Warner Bros. has opted to delay Serkis’ picture for the time-being. That seems like an incredibly long delay for a film that’s already been in front of cameras, but Serkis took to Facebook to assure fans that this is all for the best:

So it seems the delay has more to do with technological issues than anything story-related, which is good news. All in all, some interesting release date shifts for a studio that very much seems to be in a bit of a flux at the moment.
