After working withWill SmithandMargot Robbiein the not-so-great crime caperFocus, the directorsGlenn FicarraandJohn Requaare now heading to Afghanistan and Pakistan withTina FeyforWhiskey Tango Foxtrot. Adapted fromKim Barker’s beloved memoir “The Taliban Shuffle,” the film tells the story of how Barker volunteered to be work as a reporter in the Middle East, in areas like Kabul, as both a way of shaking up her professional career and changing her idea of a social life. You can check out the brand new trailer for the film right below:

The film also reteams the directors with the intensely talented Robbie, who will be seen later this year in the hotly anticipatedSuicide Squadas Harley Quinn and as Jane inThe Legend of Tarzan. Her role as Tanya is highlighted her a lot more than it was in the first trailer, underlining the need for some kind of socializing and sex life when you’re isolated in a foreign country, without the routine of being at home. There’s also a newfound look at how military procedure disrupts matters that Kim thinks are boring or indifferent - see: the scene with the orange bag. One can expect both of these issues being part of the film’s thematic make-up, if not necessarily to the degree one would think.

The film co-starsBilly Bob Thornton, who is currently filmingBad Santa 2, as the face of military operations where Kim and Tanya are stationed, andMartin Freeman, who will next be seen in a secretive role inCaptain America: Civil War, in the role of an English reporter who begins flirting with Kim while on assignment. In terms of casting,Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, working from a script by Fey collaboratorRobert Carlock, could not be more promising, so we’ll just have to wait and see what Carlock, Requa, and Ficarra give them to work with when the film is released by Paramount on March 4th.
