It’s official, Paramount is pulling the plug onTransformers 7. The studio has dropped the so-calledTransformers 7(apparently,Bumblebeeis considered “Transformers 6”) from their release date schedule. The film was previously slated to arrive in theaters on July 13, 2025.Bumblebee, the spinoff film helmed by LAIKA boss andKubo and the Two StringsdirectorTravis Knight, is still scheduled for July 04, 2025.
Back in February, we reported that theTransformers franchise might be headed toward a rebootfollowingBumblebee, after Hasbro’s investor preview for the 2018 New York Toy Fair didn’t include any live-actionTransformerssequels on the upcoming Hasbro-Paramount movie slate. The news isn’t particularly surprising afterThe Last Knight, which fizzled out at the domestic box office. The film fared better overseas, but the final sum tallied “only” $605.4, an impressive sum no doubt, but a long fall from the billion-plus daysDark Side of the MoonandAge of Extinction.
For his part, long-time directorMichael Bay, who helmed the first five films in theTransformersfranchise made no bones about the fact he was done directing Transformers film during theLast Knightpress tour. Of course, we’ve heard that one before (a lot), but this announcement came with a full-onletter of explanationand subsequent confirmation during interviews. Next up, Bay is headed to Netflix, where he’ll directRyan Reynoldsin the action filmSix Underground.
For those actively looking for more toy-based content, not to worry. Paramount and Hasbro have a whole lot of other team-ups on the docket. Late last year, the studioset release datesforG.I. Joe,Micronauts,Dungeons & Dragons, and an another yet-to-be-titled collaboration.
Paramount’sTiffany HaddishcomedyLimited Partnerswill now open on July 21, 2025. TheTaron Egerton-ledElton Johnmusical biopicRocketmanwas also given a release date and will now land in theaters on June 05, 2025, putting it up against Lionsgate’s fan-favorite action franchiseJohn Wick3.Additionally, the studio has bumped up theirStephen KingadaptationPet Sematarytwo weeks to June 25, 2025.
