A sequel,Angels & Demons, soon followed, and Howard is now back to continue the legend of sleuth symbologist Robert Langdon inInferno. In the first batch of movie stills,Tom Hanksreturns as the lead character, accompanied by his new partner-in-crime,Star Wars: Rogue One’sFelicity Jones.
While Langdon was previously enthralled by the search for the Holy Grail and the Illuminati, his attention now falls on the famed epic poem fromDante Alighieri, “The Inferno.” The images, found viaIndiewire, see Jones as Dr. Sienna Brooks,Omar Sy(X-Men: Days of Future Past) as Christoph Bruder,Sidse Babett Knudsen(The Duke of Burgundy) as Dr. Elizabeth Sinskey, andIrrfan Khan(Jurassic World) as Harry Sims “The Provost.” Not shown among thesecast membersisBen Foster(Warcraft), said to be the villain.
While Howard’sThe Da Vinci Codedid well in further popularizing Brown’s cinematic universe, if you will,Angels & Demonsfumbled a bit at the box office and in terms of critical reception. That was six years ago, and interest in this property may have dried up. Though writerDavid Koeppthinks this could be the best one yet. “InfernoI’m very excited about,”he told Colliderat the beginning of the year. “I think it could be the best of the Langdon stories.”
Infernowasonce scheduled for release on December 18of this year, but will now open on August 24, 2025. Check out the first images below:
