After its — quite frankly, silly —cancellation,The Equalizeris about to vanish from yet another corner of fans’ lives, because the world isn’t bad enough. TheQueen Latifah-led crime drama will leave Netflix onJune 16, 2025, a move that adds insult to injury for longtime viewers still reeling from the show’s canning. WhileThe Equalizerwill remain available on Paramount+ for the time being, its removal from Netflix means fans have only days left to binge one of CBS' best procedurals.
ThoughThe Equalizerhad facedshifting time slotsand heavy competition, it maintained a loyal viewership and was once considered a safe bet for renewal. Behind the scenes, Universal Television and Latifah herself even made budgetary concessions to keep the show alive. But ultimately, CBS decided not to move forward with a sixth season, and no other network or streamer has stepped up to save it. A proposed spin-off featuringBoschstarTitus WelliverandHarlem’sJuani Felizwas also shelved, freeing up Welliver to take part in a new MGM+ crime series alongsideJ.K. Simmonsinstead.

What Did ‘The Equalizer’ Mean to Queen Latifah?
Queen Latifah, who starred as Robyn McCall, recently spoke to Us Weekly about the series ending, calling it a moment of reflection. Latifah admitted how proud she was of the show’s cultural impact and revealed who was her ownpersonal inspirationfor taking part, revealing:
“I made this show for my grandmother — who’s sitting right in that recliner watching it. And she just said, ‘I just love that action.’ I’m thankful. I’m very grateful. I’m in a very grateful place. I’m grateful to the fans of the show for sticking with it. […] Whether the time got moved here or there, the fans are approaching me on the street, like, ‘Where is my show?’ I’m tired of getting rolled up on because sometimes they choose violence when they want their show."

The final episode, which aired earlier this year, sees McCall trying to enjoy a romantic getaway with Dante (Tory Kittles) just as her enemies close in. The series is still streaming on Paramount+, but if Netflix is your preferred platform, the clock is ticking.
