The CW’s crime proceduralGood Cop/Bad Copis heading to Prime Video. Starting July 11, all eight episodes of the first season will be available for streaming on Amazon’s platform in the U.S. Already airing on The CW and streaming on Roku, with its move to Prime Video,Good Cop/Bad Copis poised to reach an even broader audience. The series merges comedy, police procedural, and character-driven sitcom in a fun way. Fans ofPsych,The Middleman, or earlyBrooklyn Nine-Ninewill likely find themselves loving it.
Created byJohn Quaintance(Workaholics) andJosh Wachtel, the show centers on a brother-sister detective duo working together in a sleepy Pacific Northwest police department. Speaking at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival, Quaintance discussed the long journey to bring the show to life after over a decade. “We’ve made a show that was idiosyncratic and without a lot of creative interference and a lot of network testing with dials and algorithms and all that,” he toldDeadline, adding, “So, you’re able to still do it, it’s just that you need to have seven minutes of credits beforehand, listing all of the executive producers.”

The dramedy centers around a brother-sister detective duo played bySingle ParentsstarLeighton Meesterand Australian actorLachlan Cook(Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), solving crimes with their police-chief father (Clancy Brown) in a small town in the Pacific Northwest. Meester stars as Lou Hickman, the “good cop,” by-the-book, methodical, and slightly uptight. She believes the local police department should protect the community by investigating crimes, a point of view that doesn’t quite resonate with her father, who is rather concerned more with the optics. His approach is to focus on making folks in the town feel safe. To him, what matters is that they’re able to make the community think they’re secure.
A lot of the plot, however, revolves around the sibling dynamics betweenLou Hickman and Henry Hickman, Lou’s younger brother and Big Hank’s estranged son, who has just returned home from seven years in the Seattle P.D. The duo reluctantly find themselves in a half-affectionate, goofy, childish dynamic to the amusement and occasional irritation of their boss and father, Frank. Other cast members includePhillipa Northeast,Devon Terrell,Blazey Best,Scott Lee,William McKenna,Shamita Siva, andGrace Chow.

When asked about the possibility of a second season, the show’s producers sounded vaguely optimistic, saying they were making efforts to make it happen. However, the renewal would likely hinge on how much more popular the show can become with its extension to streaming, hopefully to bolster the chances.
