The current slate of box office blockbusters is the most stacked line-up of 2025 so far. From Universal’sJurassic World RebirthtoJames Gunn’sSupermanand Disney’s live-actionLilo & Stitch, there is little room for smaller ventures to find their footing, something that the likes of Sony’s reboot ofI Know What You Did Last SummerandAri Aster’sEddingtonfound out the hard way last weekend.
Well, one upcoming release hoping to fight the competition and make an impact relative to its size isOh, Hi!, a brand-new romantic-comedy starring the pair ofLogan Lerman(The Perks of Being a Wallflower) andMolly Gordon(The Bear). Scheduled to make its debut this coming Friday, July 25, the movie also starsGeraldine Viswanathan(Thunderbolts*),John Reynolds(Stranger Things),David Cross(The Umbrella Academy),Desmin Borges(Only Murders in the Building), andPolly Draper(Hacks), and made an impressive start to life when it premiered earlier this year at the Sudance Film Festival 2025.

Now, ahead of its release,Oh, Hi!has received a strong critics' score on review aggregatorRotten Tomatoes, hopefully pointing to it potentially punching above its weight when it makes its box office debut. On the platform,Oh, Hi!boasts a 67% critics' scorefrom 33 total reviews. For star Gordon, this is a drop from the previous entry in her filmography, the critically acclaimedTheater Camp, but a considerable improvement on the disastrousYou People, which was released in the same year. Gordon’s highest-rated project to date is split betweenShiva BabyandOlivia Wilde’s directorial debut,Booksmart, both at 96%.
‘Oh, Hi!’ Earned Plenty of Sundance Praise
Although not the standout from the festival,Oh, Hi!still walked away from this year’s Sundance with a well-deserved smile on its face. For Collider,Ross Bonaimereviewed the movie andgave it a strong 7/10, citing a great pair of lead performances and a subversion of rom-com stereotypes as positive factors, but also noted that some decisions made in the film were “ridiculous.” In conclusion, he wrote, “Oh, Hi!creates an entertaining anti-rom-com of sorts by telling a story about not trying to convince someone why they should want to be with you, centered around four fantastic performances, in a film that’s consistently entertaining and unexpected.”
Oh, Hi!debuts in theaters this Friday, June 20, 2025. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for the latest movie news.
