TheCommunityfan dream of “six seasons and a movie” stands to be broken, but in a good way. Originating from the hit NBC sitcom itself, this catchphrase has long been the rallying cry for fans and even the benchmark for what defines a successful TV show, depending on who you ask. Seven years after the Season 6 finale aired, fans got closer to getting their wish fulfilled when aCommunitymovie was officially announced in 2022. Three years later, the movie has yet to arrive, but this prolonged patience might be rewarded with an unexpected twist. According to a recent update by the show’s star,Joel McHale, who portrayed the disgraced lawyer Jeff Winger, there’s a possibility thatCommunitycould continue on even after the movie.

TheCommunitymovie is expected tobring back all the original starsfor the concluding chapter. However, while plot details remain tightly under wraps, the recent update from McHale suggests that the movie could, rather than tie up the story, set the stage for a potential continuation, probably in a limited series format, as teased by McHale. The actor shared this in his recent interview with ScreenRant, revealing that he and several other cast members have expressed interest in continuing the story beyond the movie. While McHale didn’t specify which stars were particularly keen on returning, he emphasized his enthusiasm for the idea. However, he noted that further developments hinged on the movie’s success:

Community Temp Movie Poster

“I think there are some of us that would love to keep going, and I would be like, “Great, if you guys want to do episodes, let us know.” I think that’ll probably depend on the success of a movie, but I think if there’s enough of a demand to do more. I don’t know what it would look like, but obviously the movie would have to inform a lot of that. I’m game, and I know a few others are game. I’m not going to tell you whom, but I would definitely do [more], they are always like, “Oh, a limited series!” I would totally be up for it.”

However, all themajor production elements are in place, the script is ready, and the budget is secured, so it’s indeed only a matter of time.
