The second big-screen adventure inJames Gunn’s new DC Comics cinematic universe is making progress. While production onSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowhasn’t flown off into the sunset just yet,David Krumholtzis all done filming, according to a new Instagram post from the actor. The film is set to hit theaters on July 16, 2025.
Oppenheimerstar Krumholtz, who plays Supergirl’s father Zor-El in the film, posted a pair of images of his chair with his name and character name on one side, and what may be the movie’s logo on the other. In the caption, he thanked the cast and crew, includingMilly Alcock, who plays Supergirl; on-screen wifeEmily Beecham, who plays Supergirl’s mother Alura; directorCraig Gillespie; and Warner Bros. execs Gunn andPeter Safran, as well as all of the film’s London-based cast and crew. The film is set to get a preview of sorts with this summer’s newSupermanfilm, in which Alcock will reportedly have a cameo role alongside her cousin Kal-El.

What Is ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ About?
The film is based on the 2021 comic book miniseries of the same name, byTom KingandBilquis Evely. It sends Supergirl on a quest through space as she hunts for justice alongside a young alien woman named Ruthye Marye Knoll, whose father was killed by the alien pirate Krem of the Yellow Hills. It’s unclear how much the film will adhere to the comics' storyline, but it will starMatthias Schoenaerts(The Old Guard) as Krem, andEve Ridley(3 Body Problem) as Ruthye, and perhaps even Superman’s dog Krypto, who starred in the comic and will be a key part of this summer’sSuperman, will also turn up. It will also starJason Momoaas the alien bounty hunter Lobo, who was not featured in the original comic. The film is directed by Gillespie (I, Tonya), from a script byAna Nogueira, who is also slated to pen aTeen Titansfilm.
