Worlds are colliding onSupergirl, which is now in production on its second season under a new network. The series debuted on CBS last year but was subsequently moved over to sister network The CW for Season 2, as the higher ups realized the show was a better fit as a genuine companion to the CW-verse seriesThe Flash,Arrow, andDC’s Legends of Tomorrowrather than a semi-standalone show on a different network. And on this new network, things are getting even more comic book-y as an exciting piece of guest casting arises: original Wonder WomanLynda Carteris playing the President of the United States. Now, with filming underway, our first look at Carter alongside Supergirl herself has arrived.

Series starMelissa Benoistshared the image on Instagram, and it’s a pretty neat clashing of worlds. Moreover, given thatSupergirlproperly exists within the same universe asThe Flash,Arrow, etc., one imagines Carter is, canonically speaking, the President onallof those shows now.

While theSupergirlproduction was based in Los Angeles for Season 1, production on the series has made the move to Vancouver for the second season, where CW shoots all of its superhero shows. It’ll be interesting to see what changes, visually and narratively, arise with the series at a new network. We already knowa 4-show crossoveris poised to debut during the 2016-17 season, anda musicalSupergirl/Flashepisode is also on tap, but the biggest alteration thus far is the addition of the CW-verse’s biggest superhero yet: Superman. Indeed,Teen WolfandEverybody Wants Some!!actorTyler Hoechlinfills the role of the Man of Steel on the small screen, and I’m mighty curious to see just how big of a part he’ll play on the series going forward. Could a newSupermanseries arise from this casting addition, 15 years afterSmallvilledebuted on CW precursor The WB? Time will tell.

For now, take a look at the Supergirl/Wonder Woman photo below, via Benoist’s Instagram.SupergirlSeason 2 premieres on The CW on October 10th.
