Characters are the heart of every TV show, and it seems the new9-1-1spin-off series,9-1-1: Nashville, has a lot of heart. We had a look at the cast members intheir respective characters. ShowrunnerRashad Raisanihas unveiled some descriptions and personality traits for the main characters in a new interview.9-1-1: Nashvillecombines a lot of sub-genres as a first responder procedural with some family drama. It’s a soapy thriller that Raisanicompares toDynastyorSuccession.Chris O’Donnellplays Captain Don Hart and is married toJessica Capshaw’s Blythe. Don married into a wealthy family, which causes friction with his wife’s family because he wasn’t their top choice for a marriage partner.
“There’s a story of class. She comes from money, but there was a fire at her ranch, and she fell for this blue-collar firefighter,” the showrunner previewed. “I’m sure I wasn’t her parents’ first pick,” said O’Donnell, adding that his character “straddles being a firefighter and then also being in this very high-end, well-known family here in Nashville.” The couple has a son,Ryan, played byMichael Provost. He followed in his father’s footsteps and became a firefighter instead of pursuing a career in the family business. “Don’s pretty pleased with that. But I’m sure it drives some other people crazy," said O’Donnell.

Meet the Extended ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Family
The Harts are a close-knit family unit, but they also deal with outside pressure. Blythe has a rival inLeAnn Rimes' Dixie, a former backup singer who feels she wasn’t treated fairly and wants to course-correct. “As our series starts, she’s going to try and take what’s hers,” teased Raisani. Could that be family man, Don? After all, they were really familiar when they were younger. Meanwhile, Don has another family inStation 113, where he leads a bunch of firefighters and paramedics.
Juani Felizplays Roxie Alba, the paramedic captain. She was formerly a surgeon. Then there’sHunter McVey’s Blue Bennings, a newbie who’s “actually a stripper by trade that comes into the firehouse and upends everything,” shares the showrunner.Hailey Kilgoreplays Taylor Thompson, a firefighter and an aspiring singer. “Of course, since we’re in Nashville, we need a character who cansing and play guitar. So, [Thompson is] an aspiring musician with incredible talent who will work musically into some of our episodes and give us that part of the show," said Raisani.
