What’s Happened on ‘Rick and Morty’ so Far?

Ever sinceRick and Mortyfirst aired in 2013,the show follows the story of a grandfather and grandson who travel to different planets and dimensions, partaking in wacky and dark adventures. As the show progressed, a story began to form that spanned through multiple seasons. After a Rick variant called “Rick Prime” killed his wife, Diane, and his daughter, Beth,Rick made it his missionto avenge their deaths by finding the man behind it. While he continued his search,he decided to live in a universe that used to belong to Rick Prime, where his daughter was still alive but was under the presumption that Rick had left her and suddenly returned, in case the variant would return. Slowly, the origins of the Council of Ricks and The Citadel are revealed, as well as the existence of theCentral Finite Curve.

In between all that, there is the Smith family and how Beth and Jerry spend multiple seasons sorting out their marriage problems. Meanwhile, Summer slowly gets involved in Rick’s antics, sometimes together and sometimes with Morty. Lastly,Morty had to learn many times that his grandfather wasn’t always the good person that he idolized, but he still had to trust him regardless. Season 7 ended on an emotional note. Morty faced his fear of “relying on Rick” and being replaced by his grandfather. Meanwhile,Rick decided to move on from Dianeafter he learned that the Fear Hole can manifest deceased loved ones.
