A new trailer for the insane-o action threequelThe Return of Xander Cage, starringVin Dieselin the title role, is now available, and it’s hilarious. Directed byD.J. Caruso(Disturbia,The Salton Sea), this sequel that no one really asked for resurrects a character that was created in the midst of the “extreme sports” craze of the early 2000s and tries to make him relevant in the current action landscape.
I’m not exactly a fan of “so-bad-it’s-good” movies, and while it’s at least a film that’s not trying to spoof itself, the dialogue by screenwritersChad St. John(London Has Fallen) andF. Scott Frazier(The Numbers Station) on display in this trailer is simply so-bad-it’s-bad. I suppose the action could be a draw for some folks (there’s a motorcycle that turns into a jet ski here that is almost impressively ridiculous), and I have to imagine this movie was made for someone, but I’ll take John Wick over Xander Cage any day.

Regardless, take a look for yourself in the trailer below. The film co-starsRuby Rose,Nina Dobrev,Toni Collette,Donnie Yen,Tony Jaa,Deepika Padukone, andRory McCannofGame of Thronesfame.Samuel L.
