Warner Bros. has released a bevy of new high-resolution images fromThe LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. The follow-up findsMike Mitchell(Trolls) stepping into the director’s chair, althoughPhil LordandChris Millerare still intimately involved as the film’s writers and producers. The project wasn’t without its difficulties, as it cycled through two other directors before landing on Mitchell, and a number of writers (includingBojack Horseman’sRaphael Bob-Waksberg) took a crack at the script. In the end, Lord and Miller are the sole credited screenwriters withMatthew Fogelreceiving a “story by” credit, and Mitchell brought this thing home as director.
The story takes place five years after the events ofThe LEGO Movieand finds the world of Briskburg under invasion by DUPLO characters. The context here is that the DUPLO characters represent the toys of the young boy from the end of theLEGO Movie’s sister.
These images offer a closer look at the film, but no doubt plenty of twists and turns are in store. I do love thatChanning Tatum’s Superman andJonah Hill’s Green Lantern are back.
