However, the case they are best known for is “The Watcher.” The case involved a mysterious figure who sent a series of disturbing letters to a family that lived on 657 Boulevard in Westfield New Jersey. They were only known as The Watcher, and they’re still at large to this day. Some thought it was a prank, others thought it was the homeowners trying to get attention, and others say it could have been something much darker. This case was the pair’s best episode ofBuzzFeed Unsolvedand led to renewed interest in the relatively recent case as well as a Netflix series based on the events, the latter of which came out in late 2022. The investigation even inspired Bergara and Madej’s name for their new YouTube channel titled Watcher.

Mystery Filesis also a spin-off toBuzzFeed Unsolved: Supernatural’s spiritual successorGhost Files. That gut-busting ghost-hunting series premiered its first season late last year and is coming back for asecond seasonin the near future. Just when you thought our detective days were over… I’m so excited to finally announce our brand new show, Mystery Files.

This series is perhaps the most collaborative effort I’ve ever been a part of. A huge shout out to the team at watcher and particularly Annie Jeong and Brittney Lee for taking our crazy idea and making it into something I can’t wait for you all to see. Shane and I finally have a forum to cover all the strange, uncategorizable things that fascinate us and share them all with you.

That being said, it will feel familiar and yet foreign all the same. We’ll be talking about mysteries both solved and unsolved, from the creepy to just the straight up weird.

We all hope you’ll come along for the ride.

The companion to Ghost Files has finally arrived, so without further ado…
