It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report brought to you by our friends at AMC Theatres.Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justiceshattered box office predictions opening up at Number 1 with $166.1 million dollarsdomestic marking the biggest debut of a DC Comics film ever and the seventh biggest domestic opening weekend of all-time. Overseas it opened to $254 million from 66 markets for a global debut of $420.1 million.Zootopiatook the Number 2 spot with $23.1 million to push the domestic total to $240.5 million. At Number 3 wasMy Big Fat Greek Wedding 2earning $18.1 million. There was a tie for the Number 4 spot withMiracles from HeavenandThe Divergent Series: Allegiantboth taking in $9.5 million dollars. And at Number 5,10 Cloverfield Lanewith $6 million.

An update to last week’s story on Marvel and Disney boycotting the state of Georgia if the controversial religious liberty bill dubbed by critics as “anti-gay” was signed into law: In a report from Variety, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal will veto the bill after mounting pressure from major corporations and media companies condemned the measure. Governor Deal released a statement saying that Georgia is a welcoming state, full of loving, kind and generous people. He announced his veto to the press earlier this morning.
Kingsman 2is inching closer and closer to production and now we have some concept art and a new title, this according to writer/directorMatthew Vaughn. In an interview with Empire Magazine,Vaughn revealed the new title to beKingsman: The Golden Circle. The Empire article also included four pieces of concept art, which includes a first look at the Kingsman cab that can dive deep underwater like a submarine; a bombed-out Kingsman headquarters, The Statesman headquarters and the lair of the villain, Poppy, played byJulianne Moore.Kingsman: The Golden Circleis slated for release on June 10th, 2017.

WonderCon 2016 happened this past weekend and the whole Collider Movie Talk Crew was there to celebrate. Along with a number of comic book panels anda host of Cosplayers looking to be straight from the movies,the sister con to Comic-Con also offered previews and footage from upcoming movies likeTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows,The Conjuring 2andLights Out, with personal interviews withFast 7andTheConjuringdirectorJames Wan. The weekend was capped off with a Collider Heroes panel followed by a meet and greet with fans and members of the Collider Movie Talk team.

Over the weekend at WonderCon, Warner Bros. and directorJames Wan released the newest trailer forThe Conjuring 2. In the trailer, Ed and Lorraine Warren played byVera FarmigaandPatrick Wilsonare now being hunted by an angry spirit that’s been channeling itself through a young English child. The movie comes out this June 10th.
After Warner Bros. and New Line debuted theConjuring 2trailer,they turned to another horror movie with the debut look atLights Out, the first movie from directorDavid Sandbergbased on the viral short film he created by the same name. James Wan produces from his Atomic Monster Productions.Lights Outis the tale of an unknown terror that lurks in the dark. As a young girl growing up, Rebecca, played byTeresa Palmer, was never really sure of what was real when the lights went out at night. Now, her little brother Martin, played byGabriel Bateman, is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that jeopardized her safety and sanity. Holding a mysterious attachment to their mother, played byMaria Bello, the supernatural entity has returned with a vengeance to torment the entire family.Lights Outopens in theatres July 22nd.

Paramount Pictures has releaseda new trailer for the sequelTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Directed byEarth to EchofilmmakerDave Green, the sequel sees the turtles facing off against a number of familiar faces from the comics and cartoons including a small peek at Krang with more action shots of Bebop and Rocksteady. The spot also showsArrowstarStephen Amellas the hockey stick-wielding Casey Jones. The film also starsMegan Fox,Will Arnett, andLaura Linneyand lands in theatres on June 3rd.
Warner Bros. released a second teaser trailer forThe LEGO Batman Moviedirected byChris McKay. The new teaser directly addresses seeing Thomas and Martha Wayne murdered again and again and again in every Batman movie released in the years past, also referencing this weekend’s latest,Batman v Superman.The animated spin-off will feature the voices of Will Arnett,Michael Cera,Rosario Dawson,Zach Galifianakis,Ralph Fiennes, andMariah Carey.The LEGO Batman Movieopens in theaters on February 10th, 2017.
