A jam-pack night awaits fans of theLaw & Orderfranchise next week. The highly anticipated crossover betweenLaw & Orderand its spin-offLaw & Order: Special Victims Unitairs next Thursday, April 17. Two promos have been released for the crossover event, one for each show. In the promo Lt. Jessica Brady (Maura Tierney) asks Olivia if she knew the victim in their case. And all at once, fans are transported back to Season 7, Episode 3 of SVU. The episode “911” a standout forSVUwhereMariska Hargitay’s Olivia Benson stays on the line with a girl, named Maria Recinos, that Olivia believes to be buried alive. Now, it seems, that the 2-7 has caught the case of Maria’s murder all these years later. Now, Olivia (and other members of the 16th Precinct) are pulled into the case, determined to find Maria’s killer, no matter the cost. AsTony Goldwyn’s DA Nicholas Baxer explains, “it’s too important to just leave it to chance.”
The logline for “Play With Fire” Part 1 is as follows:

“A mysterious phone call to Capt. Benson of the Special Victims Unit leads detectives to the scene of a brutal murder.”
The Season 7 episode “911” followed Olivia Benson, staying on the phone with Maria, after she explains she’s been locked in a room. As the episode progresses,Olivia’s conviction to find Maria grows stronger as more characters doubt the credibility of Maria’s story during the investigation. Eventually, Olivia digs Maria out of the ground herself after the girl is buried alive. Given that they used a flashback scene in the promo itself, one or both parts of the crossover will likely fill in the blanks enough. However, the episode is a fan-favorite andregarded critically as one of the best in the whole series, so it’s worth watching if you’ve got a spare hour. The pair would reunite in Season 25, after Olivia sees that Maria has become a police officer herself. It’s a brief reunion on screen, and it’s unknown if they kept in contact after the reunion. And now it seems it’s too late.
