Unfortunately, as Murdock later on painfully learns, there’s only so much you can do when you fight by the book — especially whenyou’re up against somebody as conniving and corruptedas Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onoforio), the now Mayor of New York City. As Fisk ramps up his hate speech against the vigilantes of Hell’s Kitchen, it’s only a matter of time until Matt returns back to his old ways. What Happened in Episode 3 of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’?

In Episode 3 ofDaredevil: Born Again,Murdock takes matters to court with the trial of Hector Ayala(Kamar de los Reyes), a.k.a. White Tiger, who stands accused of murdering a police officer while trying to stop an assault. Murdock fights to prove his innocence, but with Fisk and his cronies breathing down the lawyer’s neck and the system in his palm, the chances of winning the case are slim to none. In an attempt to convince the jury, Murdock tracks down Nicky Torres, the key witness who saw what really happened. However, Torres — who is both a drug dealer and police informant — crumbles under pressure in court, lying to protect himself after seeing the heavy police presence, including officers sporting Punisher insignia.

Desperate, Murdock takes a risky step: he publicly outs Ayala as White Tiger in the courtroom, using his heroic actions to sway the jury’s judgment. The gamble pays off, and Ayala is acquitted. Meanwhile, Fisk isn’t happy with the outcome, pushing journalist BB Urich (Genneya Walton)to further propel hate speech against vigilantes. Although Matt has advised him to drop his heroic act momentarily, Ayala refuses to listen. Suiting up as White Tiger again, his victory is short-livedwhen he is assassinated with a single gunshot to the head. As his killer approaches, it becomes clear they’re wearing a bulletproof vest marked with a Punisher logo.As for the actual Punisher, a.k.a. Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), he has yet to be seen.

While the essence of theDaredevilcharacter is the same, such as people do, Matt changes based on the things he’s been going through in his life. Other Marvel Shows You Need to Watch Before ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ (2015-2018)

It’s time to go back to where it all started with Netflix’sDaredevil. By day, Matt Murdock (Cox) is a lawyer by trade; a feat considered remarkable due to his inability to see since he was a young boy. Astonishingly enough, what he lacks in sight, he makes up for with his other senses enhanced to superpower heights. At night, when the courtrooms are closed, Matt removes his stuffy suit and fights crime as Daredevil. Under his disguise, the off-the-rails vigilante takes the law into his own handsas he comes face-to-face with Hell’s Kitchen’s worst of the worst. Paving the way for grittier and bloodier Marvel adaptations,Daredevilproves that salvation is not for the morally corrupt.

Marvel’s ‘The Defenders’ (2017)

Apart from the Avengers, there were the Defenders. They might not have the recognition of “Earth’s mightiest heroes,” but they’re just as powerful enough to take down the world’s biggest threats. Taking place after the events ofDaredevilSeason 2,The Defendersconsists of Daredevil himself (Murdock), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). For audiences who have watched each of their own Marvel shows, you’d know that these five characters are far from perfect. Alone, they’re facing their trauma and carrying their respective emotional baggage. But together, they become a lot stronger than they realize. With the fate of New York City and the world in trouble, the Defenders brace themselves for one common foe: The Hand.

The Defenders

Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’ (2017-2019)

The Punisheris the origin story of Frank Castle, a.k.a. Punisher (Bernthal), who first appeared in Season 2 of Netflix’sDaredevil. With his return inDaredevil: Born Again, it only makes sense to go back to the fellow vigilante’s roots. Once a Marine veteran in his past life, his hunger for vengeance comes from the death of his family. Driven by unchecked grief and sheer revenge, Frank takes matters into his own hands, seeking every single individual responsible for killing the people whom he holds dear to his heart. His vendetta leads him to the dark underworld, where it’s just him versus an entire army of criminals. Frank is far from the typical Marvel mold. With neither a cape nor superhero abilities, his real “superpower” is that he’s an ordinary father who’s lost everything, including himself.
