If you thoughtGeorge Clooneywas too busywith Tonys season to catch up on streaming TV, think again — because he’s officially a fan ofThe Pitt. During his appearance onLate Night With Seth Meyerslast week, Clooney took a moment to shout out hisformerERco-starNoah Wyleand the medical drama that’s quickly becoming a sensation on HBO Max. Clooney, who played the doctor of a generation of people’s dreams in Dr. Doug Ross for five seasons before trading scrubs for superstardom, couldn’t help but gush about Wyle’s performance in the breakout hit.

“Have you guys seen that show? It’s so good, and I have to say: We’ve been really dear friends since [ER] — since we did the pilot of the show. He is just the most honorable, talented young man, [which] I get to say because I’m an old man, and I cannot be happier for his success on the show. The show is just a beautiful show, and he does just a great job with it.”

George Clooney Was Jealous of Noah Wyle’s Memory on ‘ER’

That’s some serious praise from the silver fox of County General — especially consideringThe Pittjust took home the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Drama Seriesand has already been renewed for a second season, set to premiere in January 2026. Clooney’s shoutout came after sharing a very on-brand anecdote about struggling with medical jargon back in hisERdays.

“We used to do these things called oners,” he explained. “You’ve got to get 12 pages of dialogue out and nobody can screw up, or you have to start all over again. I’m at the very end of the oner, at Page 12, and I have one line — supraventricular tachyarrhythmia — and I’m telling you, I never got it! Literally! We did, like, 40 takes, and the rest of the cast is, like, ‘Are you f–king kidding me?'”

And in case you’re wondering, yes — Noah Wyle always nailed it. Clooney admitted that even back then,Wyle handled the tricky technical lingo like a pro: “He always could do it, and I hated him for that,” Clooney said with a laugh. And in a nice treat for long time fans ofER,there was a reunion of sorts when the two recently reunited along with fellowERalumsAnthony EdwardsandJulianna Marguliesat the April premiere of Clooney’s Broadway directorial debut,Good Night, and Good Luck, which is now up for five Tony Awards.
