Few have been able to walk through Bleak House, which is like walking through the mind ofGuillermo Del Torohimself. Located in California’s San Fernando Valley, the filmmaker’s personal sanctuary is filled with books, art, life-size figures, and similar trinkets he’s collected over the years. An exhibition inspired by Bleak Housewill open in L.A. beginning in August, butConan O’Brien’s trusted right-hand man,Andy Richter, got a chance to tour the real thing for the TBS talk show.

Del Toro walked Richter through his horror room with life-size figures ofEdgar Allen PoeandH.P. Lovecraft, the haunted mansion-esque “fantasy and children’s stories section,” his “vampire and werewolf room” that is exactly how it sounds, as well as his prop-filled hallways. The funny coincidence of the tour came when Richter sat with Del Toro in the TV room next to a replica of a possessedLinda BlairfromThe Exorcist. The comedian appeared in the beginning ofScary Movie 2as one of the priests spoofing the film.

Bleak House is a true treasure trove for anyone with an interest in horror, sci-fi, and fantasy genres, which is why many will cringe when Richter’s cameraman knocks over one of the figures from the robot display. “This would be a terrible house to be drunk in,” the comedian joked.
