Get ready to head to ancient Britain for a massive epic filled with an even more massive ensemble of actors. The BBC has revealed a slew of new images forKing and Conqueror,their upcoming drama series set in 11th-century Britain. The show will tell the real-life tale of a struggle for the English throne and features two stars from theGame of Thronesfranchise:Nikolaj Coster-WaldauandJames Norton.

The images show off Coster-Waldau and Norton, as well as several of their co-stars. The series willstar Norton as Harold, the last Anglo-Saxon crowned King of England. As Harold looks to maintain control over his kingdom, hefaces an unnerving threat: William (Coster-Waldau), the Duke of Normandy, who would eventually become known as William the Conqueror. The two will battle for the throne, culminating in the legendary Battle of Hastings.

The images show, among other things, William having a conversation with another king, Edward (Eddie Marsan),Clare Hormanas Danish noblewoman Gytha,Juliet Stevensonas English noblewoman Emma,Clemence Poseyas William’s wife Matilda, andEmily Beechamas Harold’s wifeEdith.From the looks of the images, theshow will likely be an epic taleof 11th-century war.

Coster-Waldau and Norton Were Both in the ‘Thrones’ Franchise

Neither Coster-Waldau nor Norton is unfamiliar with a period set, as both men had large roles in theGame of Thronesfranchise.Coster-Waldaugarnered critical acclaim for his portrayal of the rugged swordsman Jamie Lannister in the original show, becoming one of the series' most beloved characters. While Norton did not appear in the original show, he is set to join thethird seasonof the spin-offHouse of the Dragon; he will portray Ormund Hightower, a feudal lord and the nephew of Otto Hightower (Rhys Infans).
