After a seven-month hiatus,DanDaDanSeason 2 hasfinally premiered, and Episode 1 (titled “Like, This Is the Legend of the Giant Snake”) showed the promising potential of the new episodes.Manga fans have already noticed some differences in the adaptation, and in a recent interview with CBR, series co-directorAbel Gongoraaddressed those changesand how they are approached when they are bringing the hit anime series to life.
During the interview, Gongora revealed that they tend to stretch outsome action sequences. The rule of thumb during production is that “any idea is welcome” to make those action sequencesmore thrilling, and help fill out an episode’s 20-22-minute runtime. Gongora also explained some of the moments that were fleshed out, including his favorites. He stated:

“[W]e still have some parts that are longer and more developed, especially the part where [Jiji and Evil Eye] merge together. The manga is very fast, but we made a longer sequence. And I thought that was really cool. Yeah, now it’s difficult to think about other parts… I think, also like, for example, when Okarun saves Momo from Evil Eye, and then they kind of jump out of the room and Jiji’s attacking them with the ball, then they are running kind of upstairs. In the manga, it was really fast, but we wanted to show Jiji’s power in the cave, in the underground… he can still destroy all the setting around, like even very high, because he’s really powerful. And then we see Momo and Okarun running very fast, and they also collaborate together. Like Momo is using the psychic hands and Okarun is jumping very fast. So this is also extra, like I don’t think we see that in the manga.”
