Today, Lionsgate announced the start of production on the film that adaptsJeannette Walls’ best-selling memoir of the same name. The story centers on the author’s childhood with her nomadic, dysfunction family, who traversed desert towns in the Southwest and often camped in the mountains.The Glass Castlefilms in Montreal before moving on to New Mexico and Welch, WVA. A release date has yet to be set.

In addition to the star-studded leading cast, equally exciting is the reunion of Larson with directorDestin Daniel Cretton, who co-wrote theGlass Castle’s screenplay withAndrew Lanham. Larson had developed a following with a string of roles, like inScott PilgrimandUnited States of Tara, but she reinforced herself as leading lady material inShort Term 12, Cretton’s wonderful indie centered around the world of a residential treatment facility.

Whatever you might think of even the potential for Larson to play Carol Danvers, there’s a reason she caught Marvel’s eye.
