The first glimpse at the newBlade Runner 2049came courtesy of a futuristic yet instantly recognizable bit of concept art; now, thanks to theDenis Villeneuve-directed film’sfirst teaser trailer, we have a handful of gorgeous and striking scenes that give frustratingly vague hints as to the movie’s plot. Fans of the original film will quickly pick up on certain familiar elements: the steamy streets of L.A., the fashionable trench coat ofRyan Gosling’s K, and the iconic pistol ofHarrison Ford’s Deckard. (Bonus points for recognizing the significance of the piano and the dog, methinks.)
But there are other images revealed in this brief announcement trailer that raise more questions: Why is K headed to a “vintage casino”? If Deckard is indeed a Replicant, how has he managed to survive for 30 years and why has he aged? Is K a human or a Replicant?Where can I get that sweet trench coat?Leave your answers, suggestions, and theories in the comments!
