Anthony Mackiemay be the new Captain America in the MCU, but that isn’t going to stop him from burning rubber in his hit Peacock series. The first season ofTwisted Metalpremiered almost two years ago and was an instant hit, earning scores of 67% from critics and 93% from audiences onRotten Tomatoes. The first three episodes ofTwisted MetalSeason 2debuted last week, and it earned a stunning 94% from critics but 76% from audiences onRotten Tomatoes. With nine episodes remaining, there’s still plenty of time for these scores to change, especially considering the different release model. After Peacock released all episodes ofTwisted MetalSeason 1 at once, Season 2 will release new episodes weekly going forward. Two episodes will premiere weekly every Thursday untilthe final three episodes of the season debut on August 28.
Twisted MetalSeason 2 picks up shortly after Season 1, with John Doe (Mackie) and Quiet (Beatriz) now in the signature Twisted Metal tournament, hosted by the dangerous and unpredictable Calypso (Carrigan). While the duo tries to survive the incoming wave of foes, both familiar and new, everything changes for John when he runs into his long-lost sister, who has become the famous vigilante, Dollface, in the time they’ve been apart.Twisted Metalalso stars former professional wrestlerJoe Seanoaas the physical appearance of Sweet Tooth, withWill Arnettproviding the voice for the character.Michael Jonathan Smithwrote the series and also showruns and executive produces, along with stars Anthony Mackie and Will Arnett as producers.Rhett ReeseandPaul Wernick, famous for writing all three ofRyan Reynolds’Deadpoolmovies, are also writers and producers onTwisted Metal.

Anthony Mackie finished 2024 by starring alongsideMorena Baccarin(Deadpool) inElevation, the dystopian sci-fi thriller following a single father and two women who venture out from their haven to save the life of a young boy.Elevationrecently began streaming on HBO Max in the United States and on Prime Video globally, where it’s becomeone of the most popular movies for the streamer. The film earned a “Rotten” 55% from critics onRotten Tomatoes, but a solid 80% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. However, it grossed only $3 million at the box office during its run.
