Coming out of the shadows and onto our screens, courtesy of AMC Networks, will beAnne Rice’s Mayfair Witches. The series is set to have an eight-episode linear run on the network as well as streaming on its companion service, AMC+, and will be based on the author’sLives of the Mayfair Witchesnovels. The brand new series will also follow the 2022 debut of the upcoming TV adaptation ofInterview with the Vampire.

Writer and executive producerEsta Spalding, who has an overall deal with AMC Studios, is set to be the showrunner for the series. Joining Spalding on the writing and production side of things will beMichelle Ashfordwho will also serve as a writer and executive producer, as well asMark Johnsonwho will executive produce under his Gran Via Productions banner.

Last year, AMC struck gold when it gained the rights to 18 pieces of Rice’s writing includingMayfair WitchesandTheVampire Chronicles. The network plans to bring each of these pieces to screens everywhere through both its TV and streaming services.

Mayfair Witcheswill center around a bright young woman working as a neurosurgeon who uses her intelligence and empathy to help people. When she unearths that not only does she have supernatural powers, but is also a member of a family of a long line of witches, she must use her new abilities and intellect to battle an evil being that has stalked her lineage for years on end.
