We haven’t seen the last ofLady Gagain the narrative television form. The performer made her small-screen debut last year in the fifth season of FX’sAmerican Horror Storyas a vampire-esque tragic figure overseeing a spooky hotel, and it appears Gaga had such a positive experience that she’s coming back for the anthology series’ sixth installment. Speaking with New York radio stationZ100, she answered “yes” when asked if she would return, adding, “I can’t promise you how or when or anything like that,” which suggests she may not have as prominent a role in the next season.
Gaga joined the series when co-creatorRyan Murphy’s museJessica Langedeparted after the fourth season,American Horror Story: Freak Show. And in Gaga, Murphy appeared to have found a suitable replacement, as the pop artist proved to be a fairly adept acting talent, bringing the necessary theatricality to her role inAmerican Horror Story: Hotel. And with Lange understandably wanting to take a break from the series, it makes sense that Gaga would become the show’s next cornerstone.

While we only know that the next season takes place primarily in the present, with all other details firmly under wraps, Basset told us about her new character:
“I will be back… I think I might be psychic. I think. But it can all change, we don’t start filming until June this year, so anything is possible and everything can change between now and then.”
The anthology format has servedAmerican Horror Storywell, as Murphy first revealed the plan as a surprise at the end of the show’s first season when all of its main characters were killed off. While this seemed the perfect fit for Murphy—who has a habit of running out of creative steam quite quickly—the show’s quality dipped significantly in itsCovenandFreak Showinstallments.Hotel, however, proved to be wildly entertaining as well as a terrific showcase for actorEvan Peters, who played a serial killer ghost in a supporting role. Murphy and co-creatorBrad Falchukre-use much of the same stable of actors, withSarah PaulsonandKathy Batesfirmly part of theAmerican Horror Storycompany.
The new season will debut this October, but with filming not starting until June, it may be some time before we get firm word on the theme. With Basset playing a psychic, any guesses?
