In 2023, Blumhouse gleefully jumped on the string of video game to film adaptations, bringingScott Cawthon’s beloved horror gameFive Nights at Freddy’sto a chilling feature-length life. The movie proved to be an incredible success at the box office, earning well over $297 million globally before its run came to an end — and that’s on top of the fact that the title dropped the same day on Peacock. As is the case with most works that celebrate that kind of achievement, fans were quickly asking when they could expect a sequel. Although it may have taken longer than the following would have liked, a follow-up wasofficially announced in April of last year. Now that we’re only six months away from the film’s debut, many are wondering what they can expect when Freddy Fazbear returns for his next murderous spree.
Collider’sPerri Nemiroffrecently sat down with the man behind the universe’s primary antagonist,Matthew Lillard, to chat about his work inMike Flanagan’s newly released film,The Life of Chuck. During their conversation, Nemiroff asked the actor if he could give any intel on the plot ofFive Nights at Freddy’s 2. Happy to oblige, the horror icon said:

“A lot of fans wrote back or chimed in aboutmore action, more jump scares, more of what they loved viscerally about the game, and I think that Scott [Cawthon] and Emma [Tammi] took their time to listen. I think that fans will be excited about part two.”
Cawthon returns to the sequel to pen the screenplay, keeping a close eye on his IP, whileEmma Tammicontinues as helmer of the blossoming franchise.
