Twenty years afterHarry Potter and the Goblet of Firefirst brought dragons, mermaids, and a reborn Lord Voldemortto the big screen, Warner Bros. is bringing the fan-favorite film back to theaters. As part of this year’sBack to Hogwartsglobal celebration, the fourth installment of the beloved fantasy franchise will return to cinemas worldwide in a limited theatrical re-release — just in time for its 20th anniversary.Originally released in 2005 and directed byMike Newell,Goblet of Firemarked a turning point for the series. Harry’s fourth year at Hogwarts plunges him into the perilous Triwizard Tournament, alongside Cedric Diggory (played byRobert Pattinsonin his breakout role) and champions from other magical schools. But it’s the final act — whereRalph Fiennesmakes his chilling debut as a fully reborn Voldemort — that cements the film’s legacy as a major tonal shift for the franchise.

The movie earned $897.5 million at the global box office and still boasts an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes. While it drew some criticism for deviating from the source material,Goblet of Fireis rememberedfondly for its thrilling visuals, dark turns, and the emotional gut punch of Cedric’s fate. In the U.S., fans will be able to purchase tickets through Fandango, with the rerelease expected to kick off in late August. Warner Bros. is planning giveaways, merchandise, and in some territories, immersive fan experiences. The theatrical rollout will also extend to Canada, EMEA regions, and other international markets.

What Is the ‘Back to Hogwarts’ Event?

The 2025Back to Hogwartsevent includes more than just movie magic, too. A free screening ofGoblet of Firewill be held on August 31 at London’s Cineworld Leicester Square, followed by a live Q&A withJamesandOliver Phelps(Fred and George Weasley), moderated byYinka Bokinni. Warner Bros. Studio Tour London will host a countdown event on the Hogwarts Express platform for 300 lucky guests on September 1. Snapchat users will get their own spellbinding experience mid-August with four new Bitmoji Lenses placing them inside scenes from the franchise, including theGoblet of Fireceremony and the Dursleys’ home.

In North America, exclusiveHarry Pottermerchandise will launch in stores in New York and Chicago on July 28. Fans ofHarry Potter and the Cursed Childcan also snag $19 tickets to select Broadway performances — but only on September 1. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on Harry Potter.
