Matt Damonis currently hard at work filmingThe Odyssey, the next film fromChristopher Nolan, but 12 years ago, he starred in a twisty sci-fi film that has been resurrected on streaming charts. Damon stars alongsideDiego Luna(Andor) andJodie Foster(The Silence of the Lambs) inElysium, the 2013 film set in the year 2154 during a time when wealthy people live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population struggles to scrape by on a dying Earth.Elysiumis streaming on Rakuten TV globally, where it’s become one of the most popular movies for the streamer in several countries, including Albania and Serbia. The film earned scores of 64% from critics and 58% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, but it grossed a whopping $286 million globally against a $115 million budget.
Elysiumis, tragically, not streaming anywhere in the United States, but the film is available to rent on Prime Video for only $3.99, much cheaper than any movie night out at the theater. Damon will star alongsideBen AffleckinThe RIP, the upcoming action film/police procedural following a group of Miami cops who discover a stash of drugs worth millions, leading them to question who they can trust as disagreements arise over what to do with the drugs.The film will be released on Netflix early next yearon July 04, 2025.
